Sweetwater is a family run scrapbook company located in northeastern Colorado. All of the designing, marketing, shipping and distribution takes place at the corporate office just southwest of the town of Fort Morgan. Sweetwater is actually a spin-off of its parent company, Farmyard Creations. Farmyard Creations began as a quilt company in 1985, providing quilt patterns and designing fabrics for quilt stores throughout the United States, Canada and even overseas. In 2001, Sweetwater was born by taking the fabric designs of Farmyard Creations and turning them into paper. Coordinating stickers and other accessories were then added to give the Sweetwater line a soft, sophisticated style. Sweetwater debuted at the 2001 ACCI Trade Show in Chicago and has been quickly growing ever since. Karla Eisenach, Lisa Burnett, and Susan Kendrick design all of the paper and accessories.

I was a stay at home mom for 20 years and then started a quilt design company, Farmyard Creations, in 1986. Six years ago, I also began designing fabric and those fabric designs became the inspiration for Sweetwater. My family includes my husband Marlin; one son, Perry; two daughters, Lisa and Susan; and three grandchildren; Jordan, Emily, and Bryce. Lisa and Susan are co-owners of Sweetwater and have made me very proud of their dedication and enthusiasm for the business. I get to do what I enjoy the most - painting and drawing - and I wouldn't trade jobs with anyone!

Being a part of Sweetwater was a complete career change for me. After graduating from Colorado State with a degree in marketing I spent six years raising show pigs! The best part of my job is the opportunity to travel and work with my mom and sister. An added bonus is being able to spend time with my niece and nephew, even though our office can sometimes look like a giant playpen! If I didn't have this job, I would love to be a sports reporter on ESPN. The most difficult part of my job is my 80- mile commute from my home near the Colorado-Wyoming border where my husband Jay farms. Jay helps us out by constructing our trade show booths (along with my brother-in-law, Dan) and attending the HIA show every year. He is always astonished (as most men are) how passionate "those women" are about scrapbooking!

As a child growing up on a farm, I always wanted to become a veterinarian. After my first semester of college, I knew that eight years of school was not for me. Upon graduating from Colorado State with a degree in Animal Science, I married my high school sweetheart, Dan. We both took jobs away from our hometown and later jumped at the chance when Dan had the opportunity to transfer back. I then took a job with our family business, Farmyard Creations, which now includes Sweetwater. In 2000, we were blessed with the birth of our daughter, Jordan and again in 2003 with the birth of our son Bryce. The biggest joys that I get out of working at Sweetwater is the opportunity to work with my family and the flexibility it brings to make sure that I can keep my family first!
